I shared that while I am experiencing a greater amount of margin and free time during my evenings and on the weekends, I’m finding myself wanting to always “do something.” Rather than giving into the temptation of working on work related things, we discussed things that I might instigate to spice things up a bit during family time.
Chrissy called in with some feedback related to restaurants with calorie counts on their menus. Mary called in to share her own tip on how to save money by working out with things you may already have in your home. Beth called in to share how scheduling her workouts has helped her to make that a part of your normal daily routine. Jeanne called in with some thoughts about her Boston Marathon run.

Father Roderick also shared about a chicken health scare in the Netherlands. It turns out that new evidence from Dutch research indicates that eating chicken can cause resistance to antibiotics in humans. Non-organic chicken are often raised in a couple of weeks, living with no space, sitting on top of their own excrement. That’s why they get sick. Hence the antibiotics. After several days of quiet self reflection, Cliff has concluded that the one truth that God has been laying on his heart during this time is that…. “Any occupation can be used to serve the Lord, but certain principles must be followed in secular work. The Christian must guard against any attitudes or practices that will keep him from experiencing God’s, abundant prosperity. God is not likely to bless anything that leads a believer to depend more on himself or his circumstances than on the living God.” This is a direct quote from George Muller.

It seems like you are helping me becoming the person that I was meant to be through helping me connecting with a group/community of like-minded people.
As a result of listening Father R and Cliff I have created my own call to action – I spend too much time on the computer, so…… staring yesterday I’m cutting the time I spend on the computer by at least 50% and spending more time enjoying vigorous out door exercising – hiking, walking, biking, gym workouts, planning my life and planning my meals/nutritional intake.
Seems like this community can and will empower, motivate, encourage (plus mush more) its members to:
* Learn what our PURPOSE is and how to learn to fulfill that purpose.
* Ask ourselves – who are we meant to be? And how do we learn how to become that person – how can we learn to overcome the challenges that lie before us?
* Make a commitment to what you want in life – there is no substitute for commitment.
* Learn the importance of focusing on our priorities – a healthy body and a spiritual mind helps create a amazingly powerfully state of serenity.

Cliff’s Week At The Gym:
Last week, I made it my goal to start getting back into my intentional physical activity. The weekend was difficult because Stephanie was away for the weekend and I had all three children to care for. This is more of an excuse than anything. Looking back, I can think of several things that I could have done and involved the kids in physical activity with me.
I had decided that I wanted to start going to the gym early in the morning, before I start my work day. I put on my calender hoping it would all work out. Monday came around and I slept in until about 8am and didn’t go to the gym. However, I did go to the gym about 6pm Monday evening for an hour.
Tuesday came around and I, once again, slept in until about 8am. However, I actually had a 90 minute break in between consulting calls and I ended up going to the gym at 2pm and running a 5K on the treadmill.
As I am typing the pre-show show notes, it is Wednesday, October 13th and I woke up at 6:15am, I weighed in, had a very light breakfast, and I’m heading out the door to the gym.
Just as a side note, my weigh in was not good. The past few weigh ins, I’ve seen increases on the scale. I’m now up to 223 and I had made it as low as 212. It’s been a very slow climb back up and I know it’s my lack of daily physical activity and the fact that I stopped counting calories. I’m headed back to the gym and I’m back to counting calories. I hope to have a very good update next week.

This week, Father Roderick had some technical difficulties and Cliff is joined by Stephanie as they discuss season 10 episode 2 of the Biggest Loser. In this episode, Stephanie also gives Cliff some much needed nudging and accountability. It’s amazing how easy it is to loose steam and it’s also amazing how difficult it is to get back on that horse and find that much needed momentum to keep moving forward. Cliff is hoping that it has more to do with all the traveling that he’s been doing and that he can break this bad cycle of non-activity and get back into the calorie counting and hard core workouts.

There are different variations of the Biggest Loser around the world. Each country has made its own adaptation to the show. However, the contestants always have the same goal: to lose the highest percentage of weight (or most weight) to become the Biggest Loser.

In this episode, I do the show solo. While I was correct in that Fr. In this episode, Cliff and Father Roderick have the privilege of talking with Pete Thomas from season 2 of the Biggest Loser. Pete once weighed 416 pounds. He spent 62 days on the Biggest Loser Ranch and lost 83 pounds before he was sent home.
However, while at home, he lost an additional 102 pounds and came back to win the At Home Challenge earning him a $100,000 prize.
Pete wanted to come on to the Biggest Loser Podcast to talk about the Healthy Weight Match Up Challenge where you could work as a team with some friends in an effort to loose weight and have a chance at winning $10,000. For more details, please click here.

]]>Cliff here and I have something really exciting that I wanted to share. My friend Jenn Davis started her pursuit of a more balanced life earlier this year. Like many others, she decided to make drastic lifestyle changes.
The other day we day we posted Before and After photos of ourselves (Fr. Roderick and Cliff). Here’s another example that you don’t have to be on the tv show just to be a big loser like us!
Here’s what she has accomplished over the course of the past few months:

How did she do it? No secret here. She changed what types of foods that she eats, she has daily, intentional physical activity, and she counts her calories. Sound familiar?
